Asmar-Equestrian sponsored Sophie Wells picks up first able bodied win abroad, at Compiegne

Asmar-Equestrian sponsored dressage rider Sophie Wells recently enjoyed a very successful dressage campaign at Compiegne CDI in France.

Sophie was part of the sixth-placed British Young Rider team and came third in the individual test. She was also delighted to win the Young Rider freestyle to music competition, riding Jacqueline Walker’s 14-year-old gelding Pinocchio to collect a score of 70.16%. “The British contingent scooped five wins across the senior and young rider classes in total, which is brilliant. The freestyle was our first able bodied win abroad so I am especially delighted with this,” Sophie said.

Sophie was competing against able-bodied riders, and is a Grade IV Para rider – she is the first Para rider to be selected to compete for both Para and able bodied teams.

“We are so proud of Sophie as she is an extremely hard working rider and a wonderful example to riders everywhere,” said Asmar Equestrian’s Noel Asmar.
